Player B receives 3 strokes, applied on the lowest handicap holes (1–3).
(commonly refer to it as “stroking off the low player”).

- Fun Days function as a bye week and will utilize an alternate format of play.
- Scores during Fun Days will not count toward league standings or points.
- Eliminated teams compete in an end-of-season scramble with prizes.
Season Ending Dinner:
- A season-ending dinner will be held immediately after the Championship Match
- Each team entry includes dinner for four (4) players.
- Additional guests may attend for $40 per person.
Handicap System:
- The league will use a League Handicap throughout the season.
- League Handicap is based on the average of league scores.
- All play in the league is based on 9-hole net scoring.
Establishing a Handicap
Players may establish a handicap for their first match in one of the following four ways:
- Provide an active GHIN number
- The GHIN Index will supersede all previous league handicaps or indexes.
- Use last year’s league handicap
- Only 2025 league handicaps will be accepted.
- Handicaps from prior years will not be used.
- Provide 5 scores (9-hole or 18-hole)
- A handicap will be established based on those scores.
- Provide no scores
- Player will compete as a 0 handicap for the first two matches.
- After two rounds are recorded, a League Handicap will be automatically calculated beginning with match three.
Score Posting & Handicap Updates
- All league rounds will be entered into the league platform.
- Handicaps will be updated weekly based on league scores.
- A minimum of 2 scores is required to establish a League Handicap average, with a maximum of 10 scores used.
- Handicap averaging will follow this structure:
|
# of Scores |
# of Scores Averaged |

- Once 10 scores are recorded, the highest 2 scores will be excluded from the calculation.
- There is no limit on downward handicap adjustments.
- Upward adjustments are capped at 2 strokes per week.
Maximum Handicap
- The maximum allowable handicap is:
- 18 for 9 holes
League Authority
- The League Commissioner reserves the right to review handicaps at any time to ensure fairness and equity.
- Players and Captains will be notified when a review is initiated.
Maximum Score / Pick-Up Rule
- Due to the combination of match play and stroke play, a maximum score of 8 will be used for pace of play.
Pick-Up Rule
- Players may pick up once they have reached a point where they cannot score better than 8 or the outcome of the hole is no longer in doubt.
- A pick-up will be recorded as an “X” on the scorecard.
- In Match Play:
- An “X” always results in a loss of the hole.
Stroke Play / Team Scoring
- For stroke play and team scoring, a pick-up (“X”) will be recorded as a score of 8.
Important
- A legitimate score of 8 will always beat an “X”.
No Concessions Between Formats
- Players may not concede match play while continuing stroke play.
- Each hole must be completed under one consistent result for both formats.
Handicap Scoring
- Handicap calculations will be handled automatically by the league platform.
Conditions of Competition
All USGA Rules of Golf and Foxtail Golf Club Local Rules apply, except where modified below.
Local Rules
- Alternative to Stroke and Distance (Rule E-5) is in effect.
- Preferred Lies (6-inch rule)
- Players may improve their lie by placing the ball within 6 inches of its original position, no closer to the hole.
- The ball must remain in the same cut of grass (e.g., rough must remain in rough, fairway in fairway).
- This rule does not apply in:
- Penalty areas
- Bunkers
- Putting greens
- Bunkers (Sand Traps)
- If a ball comes to rest in a bunker, the player may:
- Play the ball as it lies
- Lightly smooth the sand using a rake, club or foot to create a fair lie
- If a ball comes to rest in a bunker, the player may:
Schedule and Absentees:
- Tee times will be assigned prior to play and will be available on the league website.
- Teams with fewer than four (4) players may compete for individual points and prizes, but will forfeit the Team Point.
Late Arrivals
- Late players or teams may join the match in progress on the next tee box.
- If both players in a match are late, the result is a loss of the hole for match play purposes, and the team will forfeit the Team Point for that match.
- Teams may not restart matches or replay missed holes out of sequence.
Playoff Format
- For both Tuesday and Wednesday leagues:
- The 1st Half winner will play the 2nd Half winner in a semifinal match.
- The winners of each semifinal (Tuesday vs Wednesday) will compete in the League Championship.
- The winning team will be crowned the Industrial League Champion.
Half Season Tie-Breaking Procedures
- If two or more teams are tied at the end of either the 1st Half or 2nd Half, the following tie-breakers will be used:
- Head-to-Head Record
- The team with the best head-to-head record among the tied teams will advance.
- League Commissioner Decision
- If still tied, the League Commissioner will determine the winner based on:
- Combined total net scores during that half, or
- A tie-breaking match/week, if scheduling allows.
- If still tied, the League Commissioner will determine the winner based on:
- Head-to-Head Record
Half Season Independence
- The 1st Half and 2nd Half are treated as separate competitions.
- The outcome of the 1st Half has no impact on the determination of the 2nd Half winner.
- It is possible for the same team to win both halves.
- In this case, that team will advance directly to the Championship, and the semifinal round will be bypassed.
Playoff Rules
- Handicaps used during playoffs will be each player’s current League Handicap.
- Players must have participated in at least three (3) regular season matches to be eligible for the playoffs.
- Regular season match format and rules will apply.
- If championship teams are tied after 9 holes, the lowest handicap player from each team will compete in a sudden-death match play playoff until a winner is determined.
