Luis Diaz Wins 2025 Sonoma County Amateur Championship — Claims Fourth Title

Rohnert Park, CA — The 2025 Sonoma County Amateur Championship concluded this weekend at Foxtail Golf Club, delivering two days of competitive golf and standout performances. The Championship Flight title went to Luis Diaz, who claimed his second consecutive championship and fourth overall Sonoma County title (’25, ’24, ’21 & ’18). Diaz’s consistency and dominance continue to make him a standout figure in the Northern California amateur golf scene.

In addition to Diaz’s impressive win, several players earned top honors across multiple divisions:

  • Bob Niger fired a 140 (-4) to win the Super Senior Division
  • Michelle Goman captured the Women’s Championship in style, highlighted by an eagle on Hole #9 during Round 1
  • Timothy Woods achieved a personal milestone, breaking 90 for the first time and winning the Men’s Net Division
  • Tony Ralph posted an impressive final round 71 to win his flight by four strokes

“We had some incredible moments over the weekend,” said Chrisopher Gay, General Manager at Foxtail Golf Club. “It’s always inspiring to see players rise to the occasion and make memories that will last a lifetime.”

The event would not have been possible without the dedicated team at Foxtail Golf Club, including:

  • King Wayman, Golf Course Superintendent
  • Jason Bennett, Golf Operations Manager
  • Brad Dosie, Assistant Golf Professional
  • Michael Aristondo, Food & Beverage Director

“These professionals worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the course and the experience were exceptional for every participant,” stated Gay.

Special thanks also go to the DoubleTree Hotel, which accommodated players during a busy SSU Graduation weekend, and Elijah Craig Bourbon for sponsoring the Friday evening tasting following the practice rounds.

Official results have been submitted to the NCGA for points allocation. Players are encouraged to check the attached results, which may vary slightly due to combined Gross and Net prize categories in certain flights.

“We’re incredibly grateful to all the players who continue to support this event year after year,” said Christopher Gay. “I’ve enjoyed meeting every one of you, and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2026.”
